Styles 1A, 3A, and 5A are the most commonly used.
The 1A style involves the player and the yoyo (ball bearing) being connected by the string. The player performs tricks by interacting with the string; to this day, this is the most practiced yoyo style.
The 3A style is similar to 1A, but with a yoyo in each hand, requiring interactions between the two yoyos.
Finally, the 5A style is different in that the yoyo is connected to a counterweight on the other side of the string, allowing for a greater number of possible tricks.
